Dialogue is the most visible part of a script and the primary vehicle for a book writer to tell their story.
So, how do we write dialogue well? What makes for good dialogue? How do we heed the classic writing advice to "Show, not tell," when dialogue IS telling? How do we craft dialogue that reveals character, moves our story forward, and keeps the audience engaged?
Come learn practical techniques to improve the quality of your dialogue at the Writers Guild Dialogue Workshop on February 7th. You'll learn:
● how to turn exposition into an experience
● how to structure dialogue for maximum impact
● what makes dialogue "realistic"
● how to control the pacing of your dialogue
● ping-ponging, the pinch-ouch principle, theatrical synecdoche, and other weirdly-named strategies
Bring your laptop and come ready to apply these new techniques to your latest script!
Participants must currently be 14 years or older.
Minimum: 5
Registration starts on 01/15/2026 and ends on 02/07/2026.
